Working From Home - How to Avoid Overworking!

To a lot of people it may seem that working at home is the type of job that takes very little effort and anyone should be able to do it. Yet, in reality it takes a very special person to be able to pull it off, especially if they not only work from home but are also in charge of running the entire household at the same time. By working at home you can easily and quickly find yourself extremely overworked as well as ending up being overwhelmed.

Probably the biggest reason people decide to work from home is so they can have their own schedule. Only thing is people often forget to actually make the schedule to work from and they find themselves in a chaotic situation. So it really is important that you create your own schedule in a manner that will allow you to incorporated your job work a long with trying to run your home.

Each week you should sit down and make up a list of your goals for you, your work and things you need to get done around the house. You need to include all of the steps it will take to achieve all of these goals as well. These steps are going to help you make a workable schedule for yourself.

Then when the end of the week arrives you should be able to evaluate what you did and didn't do. This will help you realize whether or not you were way too busy or that you could have actually included more into your schedule. However; if you find that you overloaded yourself, the following week you need to slow down some and make yourself a lighter goals list and schedule.

Each day after dinner time, you should take a look at the next day and see if it looks like you have way too many things down on your schedule. If you do, don't be afraid to ask family members to help you out some. Make sure that you list things in the order of their importance and see if you can't somehow switch things around a little bit.

If you have kids and they are old enough to be on a routine, like adults, children do do better with a routine, then sit down with your child and help set them up with a routine that is going to coincide with your work schedule. Make sure the routine is not too difficult for them to handle and you should be able to make it through the day without too many problems arising with your kids.

You should also include in your schedule a particular day of the week where you take care of most of your errands as well as get caught up on your household chores. For example make a day of it going to the bank, going to the store for groceries, other miscellaneous errands. Make sure you make a list of these things and as you complete them mark them off your list.

Make sure that you have an official quit work time included on your schedule and do your best to stick to that quitting time. Just because you work at home does not mean you can just keep on working and working and working. Sure each day is different but it's important that you do your best to quit work the same time each day.

Important Note: Don't forget to schedule in some time just for you. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it is some time that is for you and you alone.
