How to Create Your Own Greeting Cards to Sell From Home

If you have ever thought of trying to making some extra income by working from home but you aren't sure about trying to do this by getting a job from one of the many different jobs offered on the Internet because of the possibility of being scammed, you might want to consider trying to start up your own home business. One idea that you might want to consider is creating your own greeting cards that you can sell. Greeting cards can be extremely fun to make and everyone loves getting real greeting cards despite the fact that many online greeting cards are available. If this sounds like an idea that you might be interested in, follow the simple steps below in how to create your own cards by hand without using a computer to help you create them.

The first thing you need to do is pick out the colors and the looks or styles that you want your greeting cards to have. Make sure that you use a good card stock for the main part of your card and then figure out what kind of decorations that you are going to want to put on each individual greeting card. Make sure that you have contrasting colors that will go with whatever card stock color you have chosen for your card or cards.

Get all of your materials together when you are ready to start to ensure that everything you need is easy to access when you start assembling your cards. Take your card stock and fold it in half and then fold in half again. Your card now is ready to receive all of your creative additions.

You can use a variety of different materials and items that you can add to your card, for instance wrapping paper is a good medium you can use to add as a design interest for your card. You can cut it into any shape or size that you want and add it as a border or even a focal point of the card. You can even add a layered look by adding layers of different pieces of wrapping paper to the card. It all depends on what kind of a look you are striving for. You can add stickers to the card depending upon the occasion that the card is being made for or you can use a variety of different rubber stamps.

If you are using scrap paper, wrapping paper or other types of paper to create designs with, make sure that you create the design on the card without gluing it to the card at the time you are trying to figure out what is going to look best. Once you have played around with different ideas and you finally decides what works best go ahead and put small dots of glue on the back of the design and then add it to the card where you want it to be. You can also use double sided tape if you don't want to worry about any mess that the glue might make.

After you have put your main design on you can then add any stickers that your think would work or you can use a rubber stamp or any other type of decoration you might think will work. There are a lot of different things that are used to embellish scrapbooks with that you could use to create your greeting cards with.

It's a good idea to consider using calligraphy pens to create the outside lettering. These will help you make nice attractive lettering. Once you have finished with the decorations and the outside greeting you can then take your calligraphy pen and write greeting on the inside. It can be a simple greeting or might be a poem that you wrote or a poem from a book of poetry, whatever you want the card to say is totally up to you.

Once you have made a stock pile of these completely handmade cards you can then begin trying to sell them. One of the easiest ways to start is by asking family and friends to host parties for you so that you can showcase your creations for free and have a nice party at the same time. This could easily be a great way to give your greeting card business a kick start.
