For mothers who have been homeschooling their children for a while realize just how much time it takes to make sure that their children are properly educated. However; there might come a time when it is required that the family income needs to be increased and it may come down to the fact that you may decide that it might be better to find some sort of home employment.
If you decide to do something like this you will definitely have to learn how you can balance your home working a long side of homeschooling your children.
The first thing you are going to need to do is to make sure whatever work from home job you undertake is flexible. A lot of the work at home jobs require even working from home, that a person work certain hours of the day. This is not always an ideal situation if you are educating your kids at home. So you need to find a job that is going to let you set your own days and hours.
You are going to have to be ready to make some sacrifices. You already know how important the homeschooling is to your kids. So you might want to consider getting up a lot earlier than normal in order to get in a few hours of uninterrupted work before you have to start the school day with the kids.
You can also fit in working hours during the time the kids have lunch or breaks from their schooling as well as thinking about working a few hours at night after they have gone to bed.
Make sure that your husband supports what you are doing. It is really important that he does because without his support the odds of you being a success at working at home are slim. So if there is lack of support you are going to end up getting discouraged easily.
Make sure that your kids are independent. If they are old enough make sure that they can make their own breakfast and lunch as well as get themselves ready without your help or if there are younger ones, make sure they don't mind helping with them when you need the extra help.
It's a good idea if you set up a certain time of day and a certain amount of time like 30 to 45 minutes each day to get your kids help to make the house look good. If you make it seem as if it's a team effort and that it's important to you that they help make the place look better it should make the day go smoother. Allow for them to be creative and give you input on things that have to do with how the house is kept up and run.
It is really important that your kids understand, recognize and foremost respect what time you need to set aside for your work at home hours. They need to realize that this job is just as important as if you had a job you had to leave the home for.
It will be easier for them to understand if there is something you do with or for the family that was paid for by the money you earned from the home job. Make sure that they are aware of this.
Like any job, you need to leave work out of the picture when you are trying to spend some quality time with your family. Make sure that you set aside special times for your children each day as well as your spouse so your relationships will remain strong.
Even if your work is on your mind, try and stay focused on what you are doing with your family. Remember, no one is the perfect parent so this is something you need to stop thinking about and just do the best that you can.
